HIGH DEPRECIATION OF BEV ELECTRIC CARS
https://www.autodealertodaymagazine.com/370745/research-shows-steep-bev-depreciation
Have done a little research into this evocative subject these last couple of days.
Contrary to what manufacturers may say (and the incredibly stupid people who believe them) independent auto dealers have produced these recent well researched conclusions on up-to-date models for the last 3 years 2021-2023. This includes the popular Hyundai IONIQ (here in NZ which currently retails for NZ$100,000) which on average (let’s say with 10,000 kms per year on the clock = 30,000 kms) drops in value by 67% or NZ$67,000. So after 3 years 2021 to 2023, on average this Hyundai will be worth NZ$100,000 less NZ$67,000 = exactly NZ$33,000.
Then compare it to an equivalent, popular petrol or diesel car, as an example, a Toyota RAV-4 or this example, a Mazda CX-5 GSX 2.5 litre, that retails for around NZ$45,000 with 30,000 kms on the clock after 3 years from 2021 to 2023.
So, let’s be absolutely precise. Currently a Mazda CX-5 GSX 2.5L 2023 model is about NZ$48,000 depending on dealer (now considerably dearer I imagine now than the 2021 model was even with the extra emission taxes) – in many cases with the same milage in good condition, believe it or not, has actually GONE UP IN PRICE!!! with no depreciation at all!
Here is but one of many irrefutable examples on TradeMe in New Zealand. At the price of this car, with 28,000 kms on the clock I’m pretty sure the price now is dearer than it actually cost back in 2021. The car is rated at about 8 litres per 100kms or 80L per 1000 kms so 28 times 80L = 2240 litres of fuel used at approx. NZ$2 per litre = TOTAL COST OF FUEL: NZ$4480, or total fuel cost per week: NZ$28.71

So even if we do not include the charging costs of the HYUNDAI BEV electric vehicle, the outrageous depreciation of NZ$67,000 or NZ$429.48 per week over the 3 year period (let alone the servicing and battery degradation costs) for the same milage alone is over NZ$400 each week.
And believe it or not, after searching the Internet, so far, [disgracefully] I have found I am still the only person in the world yet to put this multi-trillion lie about BEV battery electric vehicles into proper context. So again, I am forced to reach the inescapable conclusion that the majority of homosapiens who populate this earth – are completely and utterly mad! – and yet again, it pays to use your brains and do your homework!
