It should come as little surprise that the biggest seller of abortions in America is spending the most money to keep the killing practice legal.
New research from Open Secrets found Planned Parenthood “leads the pack” when it comes to abortion lobbying, employing and outspending all other pro-life and pro-abortion groups at the federal level.
Although the billion-dollar abortion chain has not spent as much as last year, it still reported spending $714,000 on federal lobbying efforts for the first half of this year, according to the report. It spent $740,000 in the first half of 2022, Open Secrets found.
In contrast, NARAL Pro-Choice America spent $30,000 so far this year while the pro-life organizations Right to Life and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America spent $160,000 and $590,000, respectively, according to the report.
Planned Parenthood also employs more lobbyists than any other group on the abortion issue; currently, it has 16 federal lobbyists, up from 10 in 2020, according to Open Secrets.
Among other things, Planned Parenthood used the money to lobby against a bill to protect babies who survive abortions from infanticide by neglect, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. It also lobbied in favor of bills that would force states to legalize abortions up to birth and force taxpayers to pay for unborn babies’ abortion deaths. None passed Congress this spring.
Its executives also maintain close relationships with some of the top Democrats in government, including Vice President Kamala Harris.
Planned Parenthood supports abortions for “any reason” up to birth, including sex-selection abortions. Last year, it killed 374,155 unborn babies in abortions while receiving more than $670 million in tax dollars.
The abortion chain reports billion-dollar revenues while calling itself a nonprofit and paying its CEO a seven-figure salary. It has been accused of selling aborted baby body parts, botching abortions that killed women, covering up the sexual abuse of minors, discriminating against pregnant and racial minority employees and other unethical and potentially illegal activities.
